In my business as a life coach, I’m frequently asked how the LifeVision compares to affirmations. I’d like to do a little comparison here: Affirmations are generally a statement that anyone could recite. They are not specific to gender or the particular person saying them.
Here are some examples:
Typically affirmations are placed on cards and distributed throughout the mirrors of the home with the expectation that they will be read often. The good news is that if you’re vain, you will have numerous opportunities of repeating these affirmations while gazing on your attractive reflection. However, if you’re like me, throwing a casual glance once a day towards the mirror usually results in more pouting about the graying around my temples than focusing on the sagely wisdom posted there!
From the sarcasm, you were probably right in your deduction that I’m not really overly eager to post affirmations all over my house. Why? Because I find them too generic and/or unbelievable to work! (“I trust my inner being to lead me in the right path.”…..this mental picture is murky and vague at best! My mind cannot lock onto exactly what “the path” is and what it looks like. )
Let’s consider the first one on the list (because I have heard friends and family use it over and over again.)
Money flows to me naturally and easily.
First of all money doesn’t flow. And because my mind cannot identify with this concept of money flowing, my mind cannot accept the fact. There is no reference point that suggests to me that money flows. My reference point is that money is something I earn, and boy do I work hard for it. Also, because the affirmation is so general, using the term “money” and not a specific sum, again, my mind cannot visualize the details of attaining “money”.
However, affirmations done in the right way can get you results! And that is why my preference has always been a personal LifeVision. In a quick and fast flyby, a LifeVision does appear to be a group of joined affirmations. But the beauty of these affirmations is how personal they are! I wrote them and they are about me!!! They also include the How, Why, and By When. Each “affirmation” or LifeVision statement is concrete enough that I can visualize it in detail. Because of these details, over a short amount of time my belief system changes and I start attracting the very things that I have written and listened to in so much detail. Here’s just a few lines from 8 pages of details.
My coaching division is the heart of my business. I work 9-12 each morning coaching individuals. I spend 6 weekly sessions assisting my clients in creating their own powerful LifeVision. Friday mornings are for office administration, paper work and marketing. My marketing consists of getting referrals, making the call, setting up 3 – 40 min introductory appointments. Because of my confidence in my program and my success rate, I usually get 2 new clients each week. I charge $$$$ for my coaching package and I have 25 clients by January 1,_____. I raise my prices to $$$$ for an executive LifeVision coaching package in _____. I add 8-9 new clients per month and make $$$$$ monthly from my coaching business. I have 2 other wonderful and powerful coaches that I have trained that assist me in coaching the LifeVision. I make $$$$$ monthly from the business my coaching partners generate. They work for me, and are paid well. I have an incredible interactive website for my business. I have a powerful library and a place where clients can go to be inspired, sign up for workshops, schedule their coaching sessions or record their LifeVisions. Overall, I’m making $$$,$$$ from my coaching business in _____ and $$$,$$$ in ____ and working approx 20 hours per week.
You might be wondering…eight Pages of details!!!! HOLY @##! But not to worry, I don’t have to READ this everyday…I listen to it…and when I’m daydreaming and not particularly paying attention, I know that my subconscious is listening! I have had life-changing experiences by calling forth what I want in my life in specific details. I love the fact that I get to design my own life.
