Role of Journaling

We all have a unique path; the journal you write is the map of that special path. It’s a record of your own heroic journey. It’s where you have been and where you are going.

Your journal is a record of the clues you discover on your path each day. Journal means a day. Write in and review your journal on a daily basis.

By setting aside regular reflection time you will find joy in the journey. Take just one percent of each day—approximately fifteen minutes—and use it to reflect on the past twenty-four hours and contemplate on the possibilities that lie ahead

Journaling Your Purpose

penzu journalJournaling is a powerful and valuable tool to help you discover your purpose uncovering what it is you really want in life and what you want to accomplish. The kind of journaling used in harmony with your LifeVision is not a “diary” of entries that typically would include things like I did this or, I saw that, or I went here, or I talked to… nor is it a history for someone else to read.

Because we live in a fast paced world, we find it difficult to stop and spend quality time pondering the vision of our ideal self, our path, and our purpose. It is easy to get mindlessly caught up in life and in responsibilities and in deadlines, there never seems to be enough time to do it all.

In addition, over our lifetime we may have formed habits and expectations based on what others think we should be doing or who we should be. Well-meaning people such as parents or spouses or friends may be convinced that they know what is best for you and what will make you happy. Journaling can be the first step to self-discovery.  Within the writings of your journal you can envision and then articulate your most ideal self and your most ideal life.

Time and patience are required as we practice the art of journaling. But with time and patience as we peel back layer by layer the thoughts and habits and beliefs that have held us back we can reveal what our heart has known all along. These new discoveries will be the beginning in creating your own personal journey.

As you begin this journey of discovery, keep in mind that as you attain new goals and dreams your ideal life today may be very different from your vision of your ideal life a year from now, or ten years from now.  By way of journaling, you will see your life growing and developing and evolving. You will discover new things about yourself, gifts and talents will reveal themselves, new interests and potentials that you never knew you had will become evident.

Journaling is a powerful tool to help you access your core beliefs and innermost desires and feelings and helping to discover your unique purpose. Here are some ideas and guidelines to help you get started journaling.

This Is Your Personal Journal  –  If you worry that someone would get a hold of your journal and read it, you might not allow yourself to write in complete honesty.  Do what you need to in order to insure no one but you will read your journal.  Consider locking your journal in a secure place or put a password on it restricting it use. If you keep a hand-written journal, perhaps use a 3 ring binder instead of a bound book, this allows additional pages to be added or easy removal of any negative entries.

Be Honest and Open – Write whatever you feel, whatever you want to create and whatever your dreams are. Don’t worry about how beautiful your handwriting is or how the sentences fit together…just let it flow onto the paper or computer screen, uninterrupted and real.

Develop Your Journaling Skills  – Journaling may not come easily or naturally to all of us. In the beginning it may be difficult, but with practice and time, you’ll become more comfortable and skilled at it. You will look forward to the comfort and clarity journaling can invite. Be patient, start out slowly, and perhaps write just 5-10 minutes a day, building up to whatever feels comfortable to you. Stick with it and journaling will become one of the most powerful and fulfilling daily activities in your life.

Consistency Journaling will become an appointment with the most important person in your life…YOU!  If you casually say, “I will try to find the time for journaling” you most likely will not.  Make this appointment an important priority in your life; incorporate it into your day as a deserving gift to yourself.

Journaling Your LifeVision

Through your journal, your most sincere thoughts are carried from heart to hand to pen. Open your heart and mind and embrace everything you want to ponder, change, develop, prepare for, or accomplish into the conscious part of your brain. In your conscious brain is where thoughts can be transformed into actions.

Your journal is a simple tool used to bring yourself out of your automatic thought patterns, behaviors and habits. Journaling is one of the most effective self-accountability tools you will ever use, making you consciously aware of and responsible for every aspect of your life.
journaling2Journaling can help you crystallize your thoughts making you capable of working through problems, discovering solutions and resolving situations. Through writing in your journal you can identify and uncover negative thoughts, allowing yourself the freeing power of ridding yourself of those feelings or memories that have been tormenting you far too long. You deserve the life that was meant to be yours without any negative emotions or feelings holding you back. For reasons science is only just discovering, when you take the time to write out worries, negative thoughts and emotions, they begin to lose their power over you.  When this baggage is cleared out, your health, success, attitudes, energy and relationships substantially improve. Journaling will help you resolve them and move on allowing you to live your life with a forward focus.

As you journal, amazing ideas and insights about all aspects of your life will come specifically to mind, you may ask yourself, “Where did that answer come from?”  Through journaling you can receive inspiration and clarity that would not have been possible otherwise. You will then have a written record of that inspiration so that you can always reflect on it and draw from its power. There is energy and power all around us, it is there for us to tap into and be apart of. You are worthy of receiving all knowledge, guidance and insight from those sources surrounding us.

When you journal, you open up extensive neural pathways to the right side, the creative side, of your brain.  As a result, you will find significant increases in your intuition.

As we look back on our lives, there are so many important experiences, insights, lessons and events; they are far too numerous to count or recall.  Imagine having a record of your feelings and insights during your career experiences, the trials, joys, challenges and triumphs that all are part of your own life story.

At times, people have a difficult time identifying specific aspects of their ideal self and their ideal life they want to include into their LifeVision. As you begin writing your LifeVision in “The 5 Key Areas of Your Life.” It is recommended that you refer to your journal writings and thoughts for guidance and inspiration, you will be able to draw from your writings and help create content for your LifeVision. As new things in your LifeVision have been realized, you can draw again from your journal writings and discover all of the new goals, dreams and aspirations to add to your ever-increasing abundant life. The best way to stay grounded on your path is to express gratitude and thankfulness as you begin your journal entries.
