Intro

The instinct within each of us recognizes our God-given gifts. At our essence, at our core, in our quietest moments, we can embrace the greatness that lies within each of us. Our true nature and relationship to this greatness and to the rest of existence defines our own unique spirituality. Each individual finds their spiritual connection and beliefs in their own way, to all it is blissful, natural, and unmistakable.

Whatever your own spiritual core beliefs, values or traditions may be, spirituality is found at the center of the Wheel of Life The axel or the heart and soul of all areas of our lives radiate from this our spiritual core. If our spiritual center is non-existent or is not functioning properly any other movement of the Wheel of Life will be slowed or halted. The wholeness of our ideal life is built upon our spiritual beliefs.

The spiritual area of our life can be created with the desire and intent of honoring our own unique Namasté. Every one of us is here for an important reason, we were all born with unique gifts and talents, not just some of us but all of us. No one else can dance your dance; no one else can sing your song. The teachings of this ancient word will help define our own spirituality and gifts as well as honoring the gifts of others on our journey.

Mindful Practices
sun-rays-cloudsAs the sources and practices of each individual’s spiritual nourishment are plentiful so are the ways of expressing them. For some, it is a way of communion with God, Source, or Spirit. For others it might involve ritualistic practices such as prayer or meditation, yet others enjoy the abundance of nature, writing in a journal, or reconnecting to the passionate core of their values and beliefs. All of these practices have the potential of being disciplines in creating and strengthening our spirit when developed through mindful practices and habits.

Some individuals find the quiet early morning a sanctuary for gaining spiritual insight and direction. The stillness of the morning is in harmony with a clear and peaceful mind when reflecting on our own unique purpose and path. A time before the business of the day gets started. Others find evening is the ideal time to reflect on the day, to pray for strength, guidance, wisdom, and clarity. Some find reflecting and practicing their spiritual beliefs fulfilling both morning and evening. And some still, use mindful practices throughout the day or when a stressful event is anticipated to bring peace and calm to the situation.

Because the fruits of spirituality do not yield the same fruits of working hard in your profession, it can be difficult to make time for mindful spiritual practice. But there is an important paradox in spiritual practice: While spiritual practice takes time, it also can have a liberating effect in the quality of all other areas of our lives. Spiritual seekers often have found that their mindful practices and habits bring a sense of peace and well-being.

You may want to include some of these daily mindful practices to gain a sense of stillness and spiritual grounding: Listen to music that is inspiring, uplifting, or reflective. Read from inspiring authors, thought leaders or sacred writings. Find time for yourself; enjoy the solitude as a time for personal retreat and renewal. Engage and participate in something that elevates the mind and spirit.

The art of practicing gratitude plays an important part when inviting spirituality into our lives.  When we are thankful for what we have in a true and authentic way our world changes. Being grateful invites peace and happiness. Gratitude will be reflected in everything you do and with everyone with whom you come into contact. Recognize the things you are grateful for and express that gratitude freely.

Journal writing is a way to discover your spiritual essence. Everyone has his or her own unique path; the journal that you write is the map of that path. It is a record of your own heroic journey, record of where you have been and where you are going. Set aside regular reflection time and find joy in the journey. Reflect often and write in your journalof your life experiences and of all the dreams and possibilities that lie ahead.

Mindful spiritual practices can change the way you react to situations of conflict, hostility, anger and frustration. Spiritual habits help you to feel centered and at peace allowing you to manage the tone and manner in which you respond to situations. A greater degree of calmness in the face of chaos and adversity is a welcome result of mindful practices. Consistency is essential for our spirituality to be meaningfully experienced and developed. It is important that we remain aware with genuine intent so that we are not simply going through the motions.

Our spiritual endeavors require persistence. When we commence praying, studying, reflecting, writing, walking or getting still, we will at times feel spiritually disconnected or apathetic. If we always wait for a more inspired time for our spiritual practice, we will likely find our procrastination gets the best of our spiritual development. Persist and be diligent as you seek to connect with the source of your purpose, inspiration, spiritual beliefs and values.

The aspects of your ideal spiritual life may include: prayer, sacred reading or other inspirational writings, mediation or pondering, religious worship, developing spiritual gifts, developing solid character traits such as integrity, compassion, empathy and humility. Discover your own Spirituality as you ponder these questions. Embrace the greatness that lies within you and define your own unique spirituality.

Example for Your Spiritual LifeVision

Example #1

I am inspiration. My spiritually comes from the very core of who I am.  I know that I am Child of God and I live up to the light and truth that is in me. I rise each morning filled with energy and enthusiasm for the day.  I thank God for the gift of this day and for the value that I am creating for others.  I embrace the unknown of each day and am grateful for the wonderful opportunities that are bestowed upon me.

I am constantly improving my conscious connection to God through daily meditation each morning at 6:30 for 20 minutes. Meditation brings me peace and clarity, allowing inspiration to flow through me while keeping me centered and focused on my spiritual essence.  I follow each meditation with 10 min. of reading from an inspirational book such as The Prophet by Gibran Khalil.  These readings are uplifting and give me many ideas to ponder and examples of how to live my life.

I also listen to my Life Vision recording each day on my way to work and am receiving all good that is coming to me through it.  Each time I listen to this recording I feel inspired to greater things by living in harmony with Universal Laws.  As a result, I am a deliberate creator, manifesting my ideal life in my physical reality.

I follow my heart and inner guidance at all times, trusting in my higher self.  I appreciate and marvel at the abundance of nature and use nature as a constant reminder that I live in an abundant world.  I am conscious of the continuous stream of well-being that is flowing through me and that is me.  I love myself and therefore have unconditional love for others.  I see myself in everyone and everything, always knowing that we all originate from one creative Source.  I feel a great sense of gratitude and joy each time I give to others.  And the more I give the more I receive in return.  I am conscious of my feelings and use my feelings and emotions as guidance to know when I am aligned with The Universe.  I am focused solely on feeling love, joy and peace in my life.  I am a value creator.  I am pure potential, a limitless spiritual being having a physical, human experience. I feel a deep sense of peace and harmony in my life.  I am open to what others believe.  I am compassionate to others.  I live my life on Purpose.  This gives my life meaning. I enjoy the gift of intuition and inspiration. I am filled with gratitude for all that is. This attitude of gratitude fills my life with joy and bliss.  I love my life.

I AM a leader.  I AM my word.  I have a tremendous PASSION FOR LIFE.  I AM authentic.  I live in GRATITUDE.  I TRUST others and myself.  I GO FOR IT with Enthusiasm and Passion. I Live Life to the Fullest.  I have Humility and I can say I’m sorry.  I am GRATEFUL and always have a prayer of gratitude in my heart. I am Kind. I am Honest.  I am Charitable.

Example #2

I have a rich spiritual life and I am truly blessed. I love starting my day with 15 to 20 minutes of reading and quiet time. I enjoy this time with an amazing freshly brewed cup of coffee.  I love the feeling of calm and serenity that washes over me during this time.  I enjoy the feeling of my mind, heart and soul being in a very good space.

I also incorporate an additional 15 to 30 minutes of some sort of physical activity as part of my morning routine.  This may include stretching, walking, yoga or Qigong.  It may be a trip to the gym to lift weights or run on the treadmill.  I love how these things makes me feel and I do these things with ease and grace.  This sets the tone for an awesome day as I am energized and yet relaxed, calm, focused and serene.  These activities put me in an excellent frame of mind to begin the day.  I look forward to this morning time and I love the way it makes me feel.  I am committed to this being a daily part of my morning routine.  There is nothing but a sense of excitement and enthusiasm in doing these wonderful activities.

Whenever I feel disconnected during the day I take a moment of quiet time and just relax and be with source as I know that God is always present if I am just open to receiving.  Spirit is always available for me to connect with it at anytime.  It is just a simple matter of allowing myself to be open and receptive.  I will keep a calm and serenity about me regardless of what is going on around me.

I am so very blessed to be in an incredible relationship with an amazingly wonderful woman to share my spiritual beliefs with.  What a joy to walk beside her with a spiritual foundation as a major part of our relationship.  I love the feeling of being with a life partner who shares very similar beliefs in regards to our spirituality. What a gift.  This brings me joy and energy and I am free to be who I am as she is free to be who she is.  I love the feeling of loving and being loved by her.

I love my spiritual family and community at Unity Church of the Hills.  I love being a part of that community.  I enjoy serving as part of the Usher team every other weekend.   I am so enriched by that experience.  This wonderful place is an anchor for me and I will serve in both time and treasure to help it grow.  It makes me feel very good to be able to give generously in both finances and time.  I am open to the abundance of classes and look forward to continued growth.

I am truly blessed and grateful for my spiritual life!
